Leah is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with a background in psychology, business, and spiritual care. As a first-generation immigrant from China, Leah’s past experiences focused on working with university students, LGBTQ+ individuals, new immigrants, and Chinese communities.

Some of the recurring therapeutic themes that Leah worked with include anxiety, depression, social isolation, trauma, interpersonal challenges, and life transition. Leah has a specialized interest in therapeutic issues with strong physical and behavioral manifestations, such as eating disorders, addiction, and self-harming. She hopes to use a holistic approach to attend to the wounds and pains underneath, and achieve physical, emotional, and spiritual healing.

Therapy sessions with Leah tend to be conversational and flexible. Meanwhile, she deeply values identifying and developing therapeutic themes, directions, and goals collaboratively with clients.

Leah is ready to map out and experiment small and concrete steps together to help you become more grounded in your day-to-day life. She is equally excited about deep dialogues that discover your inner strengths, process disturbing memories, and explore meanings in seeing and living in this world. At your own pace, you may expect a calm and safe space for you to gather courage to step toward growth and change.

In the process of telling your stories, expressing your feelings, and honoring your journeys, an empowering narrative could be created together with tenderness and curiosity. Based on your interests and comfort, creative activities can be incorporated to supplement traditional talk therapy, such as mindfulness, music, art, or writing. Therapeutic concerns will not be reduced to pathological symptoms that require fixing, but authentically seen and understood.

Outside sessions, Leah loves cats, coffee, nature, and stories. She enjoys developing new hobbies to nurture a curious mind.

Therapy with Layla Teixeira, BSW, MSW, RSW, is grounded in the belief that meaningful change happens when you feel understood, supported, and empowered to work with your thoughts and emotions rather than constantly fighting against them. If you’re exhausted from fighting against yourself, therapy can help you step out of that constant battle and develop a more compassionate, sustainable way of living.

Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, navigating life with ADHD or another form of neurodivergence, feeling overwhelmed by an eating disorder or body image concerns, or simply feeling stuck, therapy can help you better understand yourself and create meaningful, lasting change. You don’t have to have everything figured out before reaching out. Sometimes the hardest part is simply taking that first step. Layla believes that every person deserves a space where they can feel genuinely heard, accepted, and supported without judgment. She understands that no two people experience life’s challenges in the same way, which is why she works collaboratively with you to develop an approach that reflects your unique goals, strengths, and experiences. Whether you’re looking to reduce anxiety, improve your relationship with food or your body, manage overwhelming emotions, or build confidence navigating everyday life, Layla will meet you where you are.

Layla has extensive experience in supporting individuals living with anxiety, eating disorders, body image concerns, ADHD, and other neurodivergent experiences. She recognizes that many people spend years feeling misunderstood or believing they need to change who they are to fit into the world around them. Her goal is to help you better understand yourself, develop self-compassion, and build practical skills that allow you to live a life that feels authentic and fulfilling. Her therapeutic approach is grounded in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and mindfulness-based interventions. Therapy with Layla is collaborative, compassionate, and tailored to your individual needs.
